Region of Waterloo Public Health – Health Care Providers Advisory     New Vaccine Products and Decommissioning of COVaxON System

Key Updates:

1) New Vaccine Products

The Ministry has replaced the following two vaccines with new products:

Meningococcal Conjugate Quadrivalent Vaccine (Men-C-ACYW)

  • Menactra® supply is expected to be depleted in the coming weeks.

  • MenQuadfi® will replace Menactra® as the publicly funded Men-C-ACYW product.

  • Menactra® and MenQuadfi® may be used as equivalent products.

MMR Vaccine

  • MMR II® supply is expected to be depleted in the coming weeks.

  • M-M-RVaxPro® will replace MMR II®.

  • MMR II® and M-M-RVaxPro® may be used as equivalent products.

  • M-M-RVaxPro® is a UK-labelled product, so it does not include a French translation of the product information.

2) Upcoming Changes to COVaxON

  • The provincial COVID-19 vaccine record system, COVaxON, will be decommissioned on March 13, 2026.

  • COVID-19 vaccine documentation will be consolidated into the Panorama Immunization System.

  • A new Panorama Guided Workflow (PGW) will launch in April 2026 to support COVID-19 vaccine inventory management and administration reporting.

  • The Ministry has provided reference materials and guidance for health care providers who intend to continue administering COVID-19 vaccine, which are attached for your review.

Impact on Patient COVID-19 Records and Vaccine Certificates

  • Enhanced vaccine certificates with QR codes and proof-of-vaccination emails will be temporarily unavailable while data migration is underway.

  • Once migration is complete (approximately summer 2026), patients will be able to access and print their immunization record, including COVID-19 vaccines, through Immunization Connect Ontario (ICON).
